University of Bristol

The University of Bristol is the 44th best university in the world (QS World University rankings 2018) and is one of the most popular universities in the UK. The University has approximately 14,000 undergraduates and 6,000 postgraduate students from more than 120 countries.

Boasting 11 Nobel Prize winners among its alumni and Winston Churchill as an ex-Chancellor (1929-1965), the University of Bristol is a powerhouse of teaching and research! The University is a member of the elite Russell Group of UK research-intensive universities and the Worldwide Universities Network, a grouping of research-led institutions of international standing.

Bristol is one of the UK’s smartest cities and has been crowned European Green Capital for 2015. It was also voted the best for city life in Britain (Whatuni Student Choice Awards, April 2015).

Nicknamed ‘The San Francisco of the UK’ by the locals, Bristol is haven for the arts (Banksy), music, festivals, culture, history, shopping and boasts one of the best retention rates of graduates in the UK.

Gary works in the International Recruitment Office and has responsibility for student recruitment and marketing in the USA and Canada. Gary started work for the University of Bristol in September 2012 and previous to that was an International Officer for Sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America at Coventry University. After graduation Gary worked for a GAP Year company and has been working with International Students for 10 years.

Gary completed his History and Spanish BA (Hons) at Lancaster University in 2005. He speaks fluent Spanish and intermediate Portuguese. Gary lives in North Bristol and enjoys playing rugby for a local village team, cooking and listening to History podcasts.
